Time to Pop the Question!

Yakima is my home.

I grew up here and feel a great attachment to my fellow residents of Yakima County.  I consider it a tremendous honor to serve at the helm of an organization whose mission is to benefit people who are my friends and neighbors.

That organization is Yakima Valley Community Foundation (YVCF), one of approximately 700 such foundations that flourish throughout the country.

In just a very short time, YVCF has evolved into a growing, thriving enterprise - one that captures the philanthropic spirit of some extraordinarily generous people who frame a wonderful mosaic of giving and service.

Donors and nonprofit programs add to the mosaic by using YVCF as a means to meet their charitable goals.  Each year, this foundation issues grants to a number of nonprofit agencies throughout the valley.  As a result of our 2006 grants, Heritage University students enjoy state-of-the-art healthcare equipment, new programs support safer communites and the most vulnerable individuals in the county are supported by innovative programs that assist them in their quest to become more self-sufficient.

YVCF assets at the end of 2006 total $18,132,509.  In order to award more grants, Yakima Valley Community Foundation looks to collaborate with as many partners as possible to build an asset base that will enable us to effectively respond to ever-changing needs.

As a partner, you choose the program area you want to benefit and the geographic region you care about most.  Please take the time to read about those who have already joined with us to create their own special funds - people we call "Champions of Philanthropy."

I have heard it said that the #1 reason people don't get involved is because they were never asked.  With that in mind, I want to respectfully pose the question:  Will you be our partner?

On behalf of a grateful community, I thank you in advance!
