Most donors have a short list of "favorite charities," and recognize the fact that their annual gifts to these nonprofits are a crucial resource of the organization.
Have you thought about your favorite charities lately? Your church? A museum? Community center? Animal shelter? Symphony? What happens to the mission of these causes if something happens to you?
If you would like to continue supporting your favorite charities forever, you may wish to establish an endowment fund in the Yakima Valley Community Foundation to benefit one or more specific nonprofit organizations. Such a fund is called a Designated Fund, and it ensures that your support continues in perpetuity.
A Designated Fund can be established with a gift of $5,000 or more, and future contributions may be added to your fund, in any amount.

Karen and Dennis Green
"Karen and I have always had a soft spot in our hearts for the Young Life organization, which supports youth on the Christian pathway. So, we decided to create an endowment fund for one designated purpose: to help ensure that future generations will know who Jesus is." The couple intends to add to the Dennis & Karen Green Endowment over the years, and has named Yakima Valley Community Foundation in life insurance policies to carry out their philantrhopic goals in perpetuity.
