Allow us to introduce ourselves!
The Yakima Valley Community Foundation (YVCF) began operating as a certified nonprofit organization in December, 2004. Initial funding (approximately $8,000,000) was provided by the Sisters of Providence. When the Sisters made the decision to sell Providence Yakima Medical Center and Providence Toppenish Hospital, they contributed all assets of Providence Health Foundation to this new, independent foundation to support the well being of Yakima Valley residents.
The purchaser of the hospitals, Health Management Associates, pledged an additional $10,000,000, payable over ten years.
Over the next seven years, an additional fifty-five funds have been added to the YVCF asset base, and assets at the end of 2011 are approximately $46M. YVCF professionally manages these charitable funds which were contributed by individuals, families and corporations. Annual earnings from these funds are used to make grants that address the changing needs of the Yakima Valley.
YVCF provides the following benefits to all fundholders:
-
Service that makes giving easy, flexible and effective
-
Stong Board Leadership that invests in promising community endeavors
-
Expertise in managing more than $40,000,000 in assets
-
Professional staff who understand the issues and opportunities that shape this region
