Greetings.

On behalf of the Yakima Valley Community Foundation Board of Directors, we welcome your interest and are pleased to provide these guidelines to enable public and nonprofit community groups to apply for a Community Impact Competitive Grant and/or Jewett (Youth Advisory) Grant from YVCF. We encourage you to read carefully our mission and operating principles.

One of the ways YVCF promotes philanthropy is by investing in the vision, passion and expertise of local nonprofit organizations. Grants from the Community Impact Competitive Grant and Jewett (Youth Advisory) Grant Programs are made possible by growth and income from diversified investment of funds whose income is used to meet the changing needs of the community.

These guidelines are designed to help you learn more about the Foundation, the kinds of programs and services funded, and what is needed from you in order to review your application. 2011 grant recipients will be announced in November and funds will be distributed in December.

From 2005 through 2010, 93 grants totaling close to $2,000,000 were awarded through the competitive grant process. In 2011, $414,000 will be awarded. No grant request should exceed $50,000.

From 2007 through 2010, 19 grants totaling $200,000 were awarded through the Jewett (Youth Advisory) grant program. In 2011, $50,000 will be awarded. No grant request should exceed $25,000.

Deadline for receiving Step One—Letter of Intent materials is before 5:00 pm:

  • Wednesday, June 1— for the Community Impact Competitive Grant Program
  • Friday, July 29— for the Jewett (Youth Advisory) Grant Program

Please mail or hand-deliver all materials.

We look forward to learning more about your work and about your dreams. We invite you to be a partner in our efforts in meeting the needs of the Yakima Valley.

Sincerely,
